The Wedding

Sue and Brian , friends of mine for many years, recently tied the knot. I was invited and no-one asked me not to publish on the Web, so here is a brief summary of their wedding weekend in the Peak District of the UK.

The wedding took place on Saturday, 7 September 1996 around the town of Uttoxeter, just south of the Peak District in the UK. The wedding ceremony was held at the parish church of Leigh, where Sue grew up and her father still operates a farm. The reception was held at the Beeches Hotel (and working farm) in the nearby village of Doveridge.

The first event of the wedding was many weeks before when Sue and a number of friends, ( Sally, Hilary, Rachel and Alison among them) held the Hen Night. Brian was planning a Stag Night for the following Saturday, but it had to be cancelled because things were too hectic - he had a smaller version with his best man and family the evening before the wedding.

The wedding went very well - photos to follow.

The reception demonstrated the excellent hospitality of Sue's father and was very enjoyable. After the speeches (of which, unfortunately, there are no transcripts) the band started to play and we danced into the night.
